Janerys Rodríguez Montalvo
INTERNSHIP AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-MADISON

HELLO!
I am Janerys Rodríguez Montalvo.
I am currently studying in the Biology Department with a concentration in Pre-Medical Studies at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez. My goal is to pursue a doctorate in medicine, specializing in a field involving live surgery, such as urology. I have actively participated in numerous urological procedures and encountered rare cases, which have provided valuable hands-on experience. I aim to use this experience as a foundation for further learning to serve in my future medical practice. Beyond my medical ambitions, I am passionate about fitness and dedicated to ongoing personal development, including engaging in continuous education and community service initiatives.
I will participate in the Summer Program for Undergraduate Urology Research (SPUUR) this summer. Alongside my mentor Thomas Niepsuj and supervisor Kristina Penniston, we will conduct the genitourinary development and hormonal influences; urinary bladder tissue engineering project. I am eager to delve into how hormonal factors influence the development and function of genitourinary systems. Furthermore, exploring innovative approaches to tissue engineering for urinary bladder regeneration presents a unique opportunity to contribute to potentially impactful medical advancements.
